A review of Leith Dockers Club Ltd by Frank Ferri written on Wednesday 25th of October 2006
The club opened with financial assistance from the Forth Ports Authority in 1956 and celebrates it's 50th anniversary this year.
Although there are only a handfull of Dockers left, the management of the club is still maintined by a minority of dockers, with the assistance of Docker minded people, aware of it's historical basis.
Social acivites are Green Bowling,Golf,Darts Dominoes
TV's,and dancing to live music, Charity Boxing matches and dances, plus general social intercorse.
The modern well decorated and comfortably furnished premises has two frequently used function suites, a large bar area and a small lounge, and a legal outdoor smoking area which is heated and protected from the elemants. A large slection of drinks are on display at the bar.
The club is not only used by Leither's, most of whom have known each other and there families for many years but guest visitors come from all over the city and even south of the border
