A review of The Chinese Manor House by Kryten written on Tuesday 1st of April 2008
Was there on Friday the 28th March in a group of about 16 people and we were all disappointed.
We ordered a banquet for 16 and I doubt that there was enough food for 10 ppl far less 16.
No Soup..the starters were on a par with what you could buy from M&S and warm up at home - for less than half the price (but I'll get to that).
The main courses were bland and clearly soaked in MSG, NO Chilli Beef or Lemon Chicken. No Duck and No fresh Fish!! Just bland chicken/prawn/beef mixed up with random veg. No Rice refills were offered..we had to keep asking all the time. Numerous drink orders were wrong and they kept bringing drinks that we did not ask for!!
No deserts were brought and the coffee was gritty. We could NOT WAIT to get out of the place, then they brought the bill. Over £650...the most anyone had had to drink was three bottles of Bud!
Overall this place is SHOCKING value for money. The food quality is very very poor and the service was dire. None of us will be back. AVOID!!.
