A review of La Rusticana by Alan Smith written on Monday 19th of February 2007
We have been eating at this restaurant for some time now, having been introduced to it several years ago by some friends.
Their 3 course lunches at just over a fiver are superb, and their normal menu is extensive without being too pricey for the centre of town. Just watch the side orders though, £3 for 3 bits of broccoli, £1.50 for 3 small bits of bread, and £3 for a small side salad. A wee bit stingy, to say the least.
The staff are efficient and attentive, however at busy periods, they can tend to rush you a little, obviously to make way for the next diners.
Atmosphere is authentic Italian, however the sounds of Deano, The Rat Pack, Sinatra, and some hip-hop Italian el-cheapo pop music can be a bit deafening, especially if your table is directly under a speaker!!
Overall a pleasantly consistent dining experience, not to expensive either..
