"It is okay, but nowhere near the best."

I go to Ricebox often, as it is only up the road from where I stay. The main attraction here seems to be rice. Hense the name Ricebox. They also have large fish in a tank, but I think that only serves to 'entertain' you while you wait for your food to be prepared.

The rice itself could do with being cooked a little longer. Sometimes it looks nice and brown and has a nice nutty taste to it. But quite often, it is just white looking, and only shallow fried along bits of egg. My mum asked me to get her a tub of rice, and she was very disappointed. It would be great if they could fry it up a bit longer, seeing as they have put the price up slightly. I feel that they don't cook it well enough to be able to up the cost. I mean, I go in and I'm usually the only one sitting there. What's the hurry?

Some of their meals are very greasy to me, which removes the (usually) lovely Chinese taste considerably. Roasted cashews cost almost a fiver. A bit much surely. But their mushroom soup is nice. Not sure if this place uses MSG. But I tend not to eat too many foods with MSG in it. On the other hand, it's not too bad if you're passing the place and happen to go in.

Ricebox is good quality for your money. But it's not always up to scratch, which is why I'm being lenient with my review. The little bag they provide with the napkin, fortune cookie and chopsticks is redeeming, though, and it was not included with my order the last time I went in.

Like I said, it's local. That is why I go there. If you had the option, I would try somewhere else instead..
