A review of St Mary's R C Primary School by Mr. Andrews written on Thursday 21st of May 2009
I'm nearly eighteen now so obviously it was a few years ago. I started in primary 2 and went all the way up to primary 7. Overall it was a good school and I'm glad I went there. The teachers, mainly were very good, particularly were it mattered most(p6 &p7).
There was a good mix of cultural & religious backrounds in the pupils and I encountered little to no racism. Bullying was also very light, just regular playground stuff mainly. There were always 2 or 3 'playground monitors' around at breaktime to make sure things never got out of hand.
It has a very large playground actually, in my opinion at least. I would of much preferred grass to fall on instead of stuff that leaves your hands bloody when you fall but oh well, all kids get scrapes.
It's a Catholic school so unfortunately for most of us(we were kids, what do you expect?) that meant quite a bit of hymn singing and trips to the local cathedral. However during religious education time, we would learn about non Cristian religions as well.
I think my strengths were encouraged well. Though in a specific case, I think I should of been moved into the top reading section of my class sooner than p7. Thanks to my mother(read to your kids!)I got into reading very young and am very strong in that regard.
Finally, I would just like to say, this is a school worth sending your kids to.
