A review of Filling Station by C Robertson written on Wednesday 19th of August 2009
I took my mother over to Edinburgh to see her cousins and decided to go for something to eat.
Went to the filling station on 18/08/2009 around 6.30pm. It was only half full.
Got to be the worst eating out experience i've ha.
The waitress gave us the wrong menu(which finished at 5.30pm)Got a pint of carling which had no life in it not even i bubble!!! and no head, I took it back and got a bottle of bud then the barman gave me nip glass with it??? My mum had 1/2 pint shandy.
Different waitress came and took our order but did'nt write it down (which i thought abit strange). I had the battered mushrooms and Alfredo pasta with a side order of garlic bread, My mum had soup and scampi and chips.
Waited bout 20 mins for the starters and i had to ask one of the waiters for cutlerya as was'nt given any with my starter.
The soup was really nice but the presentation of my mushrooms was off putting the were swimming in grease and the garlic mayo was just a mess on the plate. We sat for more than 10 mins after our starters when our plates were cleared, we then waited 25mins for the mains My pasta tasted ok but it was luke warm and the sauce was scarce and watery wich was disapointing half wqay thru my meal and still no garlic bread so did,nt bother asking,
My mums scampi was tasty but for £8.00+ she only got 8 small pieces small amount of fries which were only just warm but cold by the time she got half way thru her meal no veg just lettuce 1 slice of cucumber 1 bit of tomato, lemon and a good dollop of tartare sauce,
When our plates were cleared we mentioned the garlic bread i did'nt get and was told it would come of our bill(which it did), i order another bottle of bud.
After about 10 mins i had to go and ask the waitress at their station for the bill which she brought over. The bill came to £32.20, 5mins later had to get one of the waitress's to take the money and bill away gave her £35.00, we waited 10mins while i finished my bottle of bud our change did'nt come back although we would have left it it would have been nice to have been given our change as we would have left it anyway,
We left disapointed and felt like we had been stung(our change and cost of the bill) .
