A review of The Powderhall Arms by Jackie & Colin written on Monday 15th of November 2010
We saw Ellie's review just now and couldn't agree more. It just goes to show how a 'strong hand in a velvet glove' can rescue a pub - (last time we were in Edinburgh it had become a 'dive'). Now frequented by 'locals' (the best test of a bar, the people are welcoming, warm, generous, intimate, inviting and caring. No nonsense, no intemperate behaviour (or language) allowed by management, no trouble, no 'barflies', no drunks, no lounge lizards, safe for the ladies. And the music ...so mellow ....aaaaaaah. If I were asked to design the atmosphere in a pub this would be it.
We'll be back again
Say hello to everyone Ellie and tell them 'thanks for everything' that was done for us when we needed it.
