A review of Royal Mail by Disgruntled written on Thursday 4th of April 2013
I arranged to have a parcel delivered by Special Delivery before 1pm for a special event. It cost me £6.95, which I thought was a bit steep, but at least I knew it would arrive on time.... NOT!!
My daughter was waiting behind the door, even stuck a note to the door to ensure the postman knew which was the right flat (even though a large 3 is on the flat door)1pm .. no parcel. I tracked it, and lo and behold, an attempted delivery was made at 11.16... NOT!! I eventually managed to get through to the local delivery office, where a random postman let me know that the parcel was indeed there, having been returned, but the office closed at 12.30, so no chance of a delivery that day. I duly called a complaints line, where I was informed that I had no recourse to a refund, because the postman may not have known which was the correct flat, even though it had a large 3 on the door, and a note. Apparently they are told to ignore all such notes... Common sense and human thoughtfulness does not prevail... at least not in the Royal Mail. How come the regular postman, as well as all the usual delivery services (Amazon etc.) know where number 3 is,and manage without a problem? No wonder this organisation is going down the plughole!!!.
