A review of The Flotterstone Inn by Hmf written on Sunday 14th of April 2013
Waited 40 minutes for our bar meal to arrive - I ordered vegetable enchiladas but what arrived was a poor excuse - the veg was diced carrots, sweetcorn, peas and mange tout wrapped in a wet tortilla and the whole thing was covered with what seemed like a whole block of melted cheese. It tasted burnt and just nasty so I didn't eat it. Told the guy at the bar that the meal was very poor, he immediately went on the defensive, and insinuated I was at fault?! I thought the veg used seemed very much like a frozen veg mix - he fervently denied this when I mentioned it. He did say sorry but did not sound like he meant it at all. He did not offer us a discount off our bill so I asked for it. He got defensive again, stating that he was not involved in this, he had not served us, he would have treated us differently and asked if I wanted something else. I said I hadn't wanted something else as the meals took so long to get there in the first place so I was just telling him so he could inform the chef and we possibly did not have to pay for a meal I found inedible. He then got a piece of paper and pen and demanded our names and phone numbers!!! Of course we did not give him this information. He only gave us a small discount (£6 off a £26 bill) and we left. I do not recommend. My partner only ate his veggie lasagne as he was hungry but said it was very poor. Shame, great location but terrible food and a need for training for at least one staff member..
