A review of The Merlin Roadhouse by Janet brunton written on Tuesday 21st of August 2007
This pub is very boring, unclean and tatty (especially the small function room for which I was asked to pay £50 an hour!!). The staff and the manager are not singing from the same hymn sheet - the staff and the manager give totally divergent answers to questions about the hire of the function suite leading people to waste their time even considering it until eventually the manager tells you the extortionate cost (and you have to contact his pub at least three time to even get a costing!). I have organised many events and seminars for the Scottish Executive in exclusive venues and no-one charged anything near £50 an hour for a room. Plenty other pubs to try locally - try Morningside Glory instead.
The bar is also short staffed and the waiting time at the bar is unacceptably long (see also a previous review saying similar)
If you want to pay nearly £6 for a quorn burger and chips served slowly and in a tatty pub lacking in atmosphere then this is the pub for you..
