A review of Willowpark Special School by Kid A written on Friday 12th of August 2016
I was a pupil from 1988 until 1993, and on my first day I didn't know what to expect but I quickly settled in easy and made good friends there. I liked going on day trips with our classes although sometimes I don't think they often informed my parents about taking us out of school for some trips, one instance of which was when my mum was meant to be visiting my teacher only to find that my whole class and teacher were out on a trip somewhere. I was a bit spontaneous and mischievous and often I was told off by my teacher Mrs Colquhoun even though I was just having fun, not like the stuff that kids these days think they can get away with. One time I had to spend a week outside Mrs Moffat's office during breaks, isolated from my friends just for being jokey and humorous on the bus to school (sigh, how low is that?). That aside, I enjoyed going swimming on tuesdays and when the summer came around, i enjoyed going to the funfair at the Meadows and also the Taxi Man's Outing, where we were taken to I think it was Yellowcraig Beach? Looking back on it now, some of the best and happiest times of my life as a young lad were at Willowpark, and I wished I'd stayed on till secondary there instead of moving to another school where things were never the same again..
