A review of Romanes & Paterson Ltd by The McQueens written on Saturday 10th of December 2016
My husband and I came along to the tearoom with relatives after singing the praises of the delicious scones with lovely tea, coffee and polite service.
It took a time for our presence to be acknowledged.
We raised no objection to this as it was busier than we had seen it in a while.
Although the table we were eventually shown to was free a few of the others required clearing.
We were left unattended for at least 10 minutes after which I had to request service. A member of staff said "yes" and all continued without further attention to our needs for at least another 5 minutes.
In that time we witnessed others being seated, given menues, meals and two other customers making complaints before we were eventually asked what we would like and would we like a menu. Not requiring the menu we ordered three coffees, a tea with an additional pot of hot water and a scone.
None of these were forthcoming despite speaking to a member of staff for a third time.
We had now been in the tearoom for 25 minutes plus, so decided enough was enough and left.
A male member of staff was most apologetic. All too late I am afraid and most disappointing and embarrasing for my husband and I.
Our observations during the time we were in the tearoom indicated a lack of leadership, structure, attention and organisation between staff, kitchen and tearoom.
Not your finest 30 minutes sorry.😔
