Did you think that tweeds were stuffy and old fashioned? You haven't been to this great little shop. The colours of Harris Tweeds are just amazing these days: powder blue, scarlet, baby pink, plus all those quintessentially Scottish heathery, mossy, peaty shades.

Don't just think about sensible skirts either! You'll find high quality suits here, of course, but it was the handbags that I fell in love with. These are real, grown up funky tweed and leather bags for for real, grown up women. They look fabulous and feel good and they hold more than a packet of Polos. I want them all.

There are also lovely, handmade Tweedmatters tweedy greetings cards and framed collages of highland seascapes and landscapes.

Amongst the generic trinket shops elsewhere on the Royal Mile, this shop is a hidden gem..
